Monley Cronin is proud and honored to have been selected as the General Contractor for a special house that was completed in 2015 for an Afghanistan veteran. Army SSG A.J. lost both legs and hearing in both ears and suffered injuries to his right hand and forearm when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Sangsar, Afghanistan on April 8, 2012.
Homes For Our Troops has a team approach to their projects which includes corporate sponsors and the local community. Our local community responded throughout the project with energy, time, and commitment—the project was truly a group effort in recognition of our appreciation as a community for the service and sacrifice of Army SSG A.J..
The home is specially designed to meet ADA requirements of his specific needs. Some of the highlights of the house include automatic entry doors, open spaces to allow for wheelchair access, a large roll in master shower, specially adapted toilets, a specially designed kitchen to allow for wheelchair access.
Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.
